Supporting my artwork just got a whole lot easier!

Hello friends!

It's been a bit of time since I have reached out to you here, via my blog, as 2019 has proven to be a year of professional preparation and growth, with 2020 looking to be the best year yet – but we'll talk about all of that when 2019 really starts winding down.

Today I am excited to announce that I have launched a Patreon page and will be launching my official web shop on to the general public on Monday, November 25 at 10am. Patrons and newsletter recipients will gain first access to web shop content on Friday, November 22 at 5pm.

With both of these new avenues of sharing my work with all of you, supporting me as an independent artist and illustrator just got a whole lot easier!

Hello friends!

My name is Leah Sayles, and I am an artist, designer, and illustrator based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA with a little less than a decade of marketing, design, and illustration experience, as well as a lifetime of exposure to the arts.

Let me start by giving you a bit of a background:

I come from a family of creative individuals, and was encouraged at a young age to dive into my artistic talent and inquisitive thought process. I attended the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, GA and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design in August of 2016, of which gave me a wonderfully marketable skill that I could use in conjunction with my artistic talents. While working towards that degree, I was simultaneously working in a variety of capacities for the university’s Recreational Sports Student Marketing Team, starting with Special Events Photographer and finally becoming the team’s Lead Designer and Project Manager.

Upon graduating, I accepted a position as the Student Life Communications Coordinator at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, where I utilized all of my experience at UGA to rebrand and rebuild the single-professional marketing team for the Division of Student Life over a two-year period. Although the community and experience at Shenandoah University was indescribable, I made the decision to step away from my position in early 2018 to follow my true artistic passions and become an independent artist, designer, and illustrator.

Since stepping away from the Division of Student Life at Shenandoah, I have since been hired by the Office of Marketing & Communications at Shenandoah to complete design and illustration work on a retainer basis, which gives me the opportunity to work with other clients, including small businesses and individuals, on a commission basis.

This is where you come in.

Through my journey as an Independent Creative, I have been able to A) analyze how I would like to grow my business, B) further decide what topics and subjects I would like to focus on, of which include pattern, fantasy, popular culture, social justice, environmentalism, portraiture, and combinations thereof, and C) decide how I would like to distribute that work to a community of like-minded inclusive and fantastical nerds.

While I work on design for other wonderful clients, I am here – on Patreon – to watch my illustration work flourish, with you by my side. Join my illustrative journey and become a Patron so I can concentrate more and more on illustrative works and have the ability to attend events and conventions to share these works, beginning in my local state of Georgia, USA.

I look forward to you joining me in this creative journey!
